Dear Fellow Hand Surgeons and Therapists,

Over the years we have witnessed an increased enthusiasm by our Member Hand Societies to host the triennial International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH) Congress. Even more exciting, once the bid has been awarded, is the eagerness to stage an unforgettable Congress for all those who attend.

After every of the 11 IFSSH Congresses so far ( I had the privilege of attending all previous Congresses since the first one in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in 1980), one returns home with a warm and content feeling of having experienced something special and worthwhile. It is as if one is propelled to a higher level of awareness and excellence; a challenge to do even better!

Not only has each Congress has been outstanding from a scientific perspective, but exposure to the local culture has been rewardingly educational and deeply enriching. After all , this is one of the main reasons for having the Congresses in various parts of our world, to get to know each other better and understand where we all come from.

The 2013 IFSSH Congress , to be hosted in New Delhi, India, will certainly be no different. Judging from the presentation and contents of the bid by the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand (ISSH), as well as the effort which is being put into the preparation, we are in for a memorable treat!

I would encourage all of you to diarise the 12th IFSSH Congress in New Delhi from 4-8 March 2013. You will not be disappointed.

Welcome from IFSHT

Dear Hand Therapy Colleagues.

It is my pleasure on behalf of IFSHT to invite you to attend the 9th Triennial Congress in New Delhi, India from March 4th to 8th, 2013. This will be a joint congress with IFSSH, so we again look forward to this opportunity to join our hand surgeon colleagues from around the world for a shared learning, social and cultural experience. 

Preparations are well underway for an outstanding 3-day educational program, with general sessions in the morning focusing on key topics relevant to hand therapy practice, followed by afternoon breakout and workshop sessions that will offer more opportunity for interactive discussions and hands-on learning.  Peer-reviewed scientific and clinical papers and posters from all over the world will also be fully integrated into the program.

New Delhi is a vibrant, colourful, affordable and friendly city with thousands of years of culture and history that will provide an incredible location for what promises to be a truly unique triennial congress. There will be free airport and intra-hotel shuttle services to help you navigate around New Delhi when you are not at the congress, as well as, many options for pre and post congress tours and a variety of day trips for you and your guests throughout the congress. So plan to come for a few extra days and take this opportunity to safely explore India with your family and hand therapy colleagues.
